SKI TRIP
Recently a group of S1 to S3 pupils returned from a very successful ski trip to Civetta in Italy. Accompanied by Mrs Ritchie and Mr Whitelaw, and in partnership with a group from McLaren High, the pupils enjoyed everything from bright but cold sun to heavy snow which challenged their skiing abilities. Each pupil received six two-hour lessons on slopes suited to their abilities, some at over 6000 feet in altitude. At the end of their week each pupil received a certificate from the Italian Ski School which listed the progress they had made.

READATHON
This week is Readathon Week in the school library. It marks the start of  three weeks in which pupils have pledged to read books or magazines in aid of the CLIC Sargent and the Roald Dahl Foundation cander charities. The Library will also be marking World Book Day tomorrow (Thursday).

GUEST SPEAKER
Last week pupils in the RMPS (Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies) department heard a talk from guest speaker Tony Anthony about his experience in prison, the religious experience which led him to being reformed, and his book Taming the Tiger.

FIRE TALKS

Last week all pupils in S1 attended Life Skills talks from Heather Steel of the local Fire and Rescue Service. She described the dangers of willful fireraising, smoke inhalation and playing with matches through a series of very graphic video clips and answered questions from pupils.

SENIOR FOOTBALL
Last Tuesday the senior boys played Faliirk High in a local schools league match. In an entertaining game goals from Ewan Sharp, Thomas Hancock, Jonny Burns and a hat-trick from Graeme Robertson saw the Wallace boys win comfortably by 6-1.

GIRLS FOOTBALL
Last week the junior girls played a cup match against Falkirk High School. With a team of younger and less physical girls the Wallace side lost but played really well and made several decent chances. Team coach Miss Whillans of the PE department nominated Abbie Hamilton as her player of the match.
